It is good to see that some people in the forum are talking the huge dealing of money in the Indian Cricket League from the human angle. It is really disappointing that Ricky Ponting one of the best earned man in the World Cricket is complaining about the money he received from the IPL. When we think about the poor and needy people in the world who are striving hard to earn daily bread and butter for their family. Anyway any comment on the IPL is most welcome.
parker,
yes, you see, here i am trying to point out India's disgraceful treatment of women etc....you know, abortion rate's, suicide and setting alight.....and so on. Being such a poor country how does India justify spending that amount of money on what is, at the end of the day, just a game......no racial taunts, no monkeys and spitting pigs like Harbijan.....just a game.
Honestly I don't believe in any caste or religion, in this beautiful world we are just human, and as all of we know sometimes the best creature in this world behave like the worst creature in the world. So I think we should take cricket as a game for entertainment and to develop our skills in sports rather than using it as a platform for racial abuse and to earn money a lot. When it comes to money we know that all that money comes from the needy and poor section of the society..............so now it is up to all of us to change our perception .............

Parker, I wrote the same thing in one of my posts there.
I think it comes across as greedy for a person to complain about receiving $438,000 for not much work. Many people are starving around the world. Even in Australia, many people are doing it tough with rises in interest rates. Players should be grateful for what they earn and not complain.
Thankx everybody, so here is the best time to have a look at the other side of cricket that is the marketing and the business side. Since all the sports person are hugely admire by the people of their country as well as the people world wide they should think twice before making some comments whether it is personnel or related to their interest but since they are IDOL for many so they should take precaution before making a comment in the public.

I agree, but at the same time you want to maintain the personality of the cricketers. You never want the game or its players to be robotic.
But, i agree with your statement. Many public statements border on idiocy.

Kelly Gang, seems you are back my friend after being banned from this site. Have you ever been to India, you sound like such an expert? Do you realize there are rich, poor and middle class people in every country?
I bet you don't know that India is the third largest economy in the world and almost 6 times the Australian economy (by PPP). So buying your top Aussie cricketers for a few million dollars in a cattle auction is no big deal for indian businessmen mate!
