Is the star status catching up with Dhoni or the bowlers have understood his style of batting. I can see that since the West Indies tour he is not scoring runs. It's the age of Laptops, where every player is assesed by the experts. Even greats like Sachin, Lara had to do some adjustments, had to bring in new surprises in their batting to remain on top and rule the world. Dhoni should now show the world he is not just anothe bubble.

Sams, I do agree with you on Dhoni. It's probably since a year passed he has done something significantly. May be it is the effect of non-cricketing matters. He is nowadays more busy in doing advertisements.

i don't know Think ....but he seems like a very happy go lucky person......why do i get the feeling that he just bats for fun.....i can't find the maturity in him everytime he's on the pitch.

batting for him is all about taking big shots......very ambitious......that kind of quality is good but not always the requirement of the game. you got to play according to the situation. sometimes the situation may require you to just stand there and take singles. whenever dhoni is batting, don't know why but i always get the fear that he's gonna attempt an over-ambitious shot and spoil the whole chance.

he has created the image for himself that when he goes on the pitch it's all fireworks.....which is so unfortuntely becuz that's not the quality of a good cricketer Shame on you

and true enough....he seems to be enjoying his youth dwelling on other stuffs like advertisements, interviews etc. i believe he thinks he is good enough and doesn't need further moulding. he's obviously enjoying the glitz and glamour of the cricket world.

nevertheless......he's a good wicket keeper....and probably that's the only spot suited for him Wink Wink Wink

I also agree that star status finished Dhoni's natural game. When he started his carier he done excellent job as weeket-keeper batsmen but last few matches showen that he is totally out of from.

Yesterday we saw he cant make run easily. I am sure he will be back soon.

Dhoni is good on medium paced wickets where ball comes at between hips and knee and at medium pace. He has to prove himself against Australia, South Africa, England. Against West Indies he did nothing.

yes tapan Dhoni like to playin medium paced wickets where ball comes at between hips and knee. But he is better player aginst fast bowler than slow and medium pace. But now he has to performe well because his avg. in last 10 matches is 18.

Hi Folks

You have not noticed something fairly smple about Dhoni...here it is

ODIs

Overall Average: 44.6 (Excellent)

Australia: 23.00
New Zealand: 25.00
S. Africa: 14.33

So, against teams ranked ahead or on par with India, Dhoni has not done well at all.

Next,

42 out of the 53 matches he has played have been in Asia. He has not been tested on other grounds at all.....

His performance in day matches: Avg 58, Day night matches: 24...

Only 4 man of the matches won in 53 matches- thats 7.5 % versus Sehwags-8.2%, versus Pathan's 9% versus 10% for Yuvraj versus versus 14% for tendulkar........

His weakness to spin bowling is not very high...it is only marginally higher than the teams average..he has got out 71% of times by pace bowlers, dravid is at 66% and Sehwag at 81%...However Sehwag would be higher as he has played in opening positions for a long time.....

brief analysis shows this guy has a long long way to go...let us cut the hype about how great a cricketer he is.....

cheers

chandra

Yes guys now he has to peform well if he want to be part of the team because last 10 matches his average is low as 18 and latest ICC ranking shows that he sleeped at number to 10 from 8. Few months ago he was on top but now on 10.

Yes emjay we saw his performance was not good on higher ranked and strong team. Alos his performance was bad in away from home so we could say he is excellent in India only.

As chandra has given the statistics which clearly shows his weakness against top class bowling side. Since the West Indies tour we have been witnessing his lack of form in pitches outside India and against better teams. Unfortunately there are many who starts comparing him with the great Adam Gilchrist.

I also agree after chandra's statistics which proven that Dhoni is not good batsmen agianst top team of the world. So its injustice if we comapare him with Adam Gilchrist. Adam Gilchrist is excellent batsmen and also makes runs agianst any teams at any place.
