What do you lot of think of it? I feel,the quality of cricket has been fab in some of the games.Mainly because the pitches haven't been "you'd be sorry if you were a bowler" kind where the games are usually won by the team batting first an posting 300+ scores. Its been an even contest between bat and ball,close games,induvidual brilliance and average players being found out.

Some of the pitches have been poor. Apart from that the Champions Trophy has provided some variety with some tense low scoring games.

ICC needs to think about dew factor though. Toss shouldnt be the deciding factor for who wins the game.

Yes, in the Champions Trophy we can see that the quality of cricket is really great. Moreover personally I have liked the pitches and the quality of bowling. We are watching quality cricket.

These kind of issues are all year round. In summers in India, team fielding first get taste of burning heat and team fielding second enjoys cool temp.

Winters we have dew, the only other season left is rainy season..guess it doesn't leaves too many options unless we switch all day nighters to day game!!

Right..A few things here ;

1>The crowd turnout for non Indian games :: There were enough people the ground in Mumbai,Jaipur for games where India wasn't involved and the ones who were there made a great deal of noise and were in the game throughout.Its very naive to expect huge turnouts when India ain't playing.The fact that there were so many people in there itself is cause for jubilation and even more so,because the crowd weren't just school kids given a day off to make up the numbers like in Zimbabwae!!! And also,it was rightly pointed out that economic factors play a large role is detemining the crowd turnout.

2>The last time I checked,cricket was supposed to a even game between bat and ball.And hell no,the picthes ain't lopsided.As was pointed out by me in the earlier post,average players have been shown up because they can't handle pace bowling on a true pitch.I mean,a pitch where bat and ball have same chances.

Its about time we put an end to the sh** all flat,hardly any bounce type of tracks.We give the same to our domestic batsmen who end up scoring runs for fun.Then they picked for the national team and get sent to tours to play on "even" picthes and alas,their averageness is found out and hence,we don't win any tests abroad.

3>Yes,it is a money making affair.Totally agree with that.I also feel that the authorities could have done more by having more venues host matches.Its just Mumbai,Jaipur,Ahmedabad,Mohali...Surely some venues from the south??Kolkata??

4>West Indies\Aus have won games batting first and second.So,that nullifies the dew argument.If you're good,then you'll prolly be good in most conditions.Plus,they use the sopper and the ropes during the drinks breaks to clear out as much dew as possible so that whatever is left,is negligible.
