As the cricket world comes out of the World Cup cloak, a heavy if that happens to be India or Pakistan, the teams gears into the cricket season on a more sedate note.
But Indian cricket can never be subtle, even if the mood be sombre. Watching Sachin Tendulkar in pain and sprained courtesy Sreesanth, who didn't get a go in the World Cup, it spelt woes for Indian cricket. The conditioning camp has never been this low key and the tour to Bangladesh a more cautious one. But of course, after the World Cup drubbing, nothing is taken for granted and the pain will be hard to erase. The tour should do amends given the two team strengths. But that it will make the tour any more viewer rating friendly, it is really unlikely. Not unless India do the unexpected. Amends will not set the World Cup campaign but a sorry tale here could just culminate in more than one career coming to an abrupt end.
More than a few cobwebs have been to shaken and removed to make this a tour to remember. Bangladesh will have their reasons for wanting it so, but theirs is not a crisis proportionate to the one back home!
