It is a subject of controversy about whether IPL is a new feather to world cricket, but one should admit that inauguration of IPL starts a new era to the world criket. the attendance of spectators in the matches easily proof my point. In ICL one can easily catch up the camera work done by the cametraman that shows only the stands where people are watching the match but in IPL ..................so
I have no doubt that the IPL will be good for cricket, but not for the obvious reasons. A reason why the IPL will be good for cricket was shown when Mike Hussey made his 116 no. No, it wasn't his innings but the way he encouraged and helped his batting partners Raina and Badrinath. Fantastic to watch and I'm sure they will benefit from the experience. We've seen many other examples of supposed 'enemies' working together, encouraging each other and being pleased by their success. If it also makes players more 'human' in the eyes of spectators, so much the better.
Cricket isn't war - it's a game. A game played by many very talented cricketers from all around the world and the sooner we can all appreciate their skill and determination, the better. A focus on teams rather than countries will break down many of the (artificial) barriers between players and flow through positively to ODI and Test Cricket.
If the IPL helps us to focus on the game, not just the personailities, the administrators, the (infrequent) regrettable incidents, the umpiring, the quality of pitches etc etc, then the IPL will have done the game a great service!
IPL is definitely one of the best things to ever happen to cricket. Indian Fantasy League (http://www.indianfantasyleague.com) has made it more interesting for me. Do try it if you love cricket. IFL is fantasy cricket with a twist!
I agree with you, as I had discussed in my earlier posting that it will add a new feather to the world cricket, as it is doing now except some controversy such as the dancers and the Harabhajan and Sreesanth issue in and outside the field. Besides this it works according to the expectation of the world cricket fans.
