India's worst nightmare came true. Sri Lanka won handsomely and the Indians are nothing short of shamefaced.
When Yuvraj Singh fell for that needless run out, it became obvious there would be no heroics to save this match. Mahendra Singh DHoni's lbw dismissal was only the final nail in the coffin as Rahul Dravid looked on mystified. But should he have been? In a line up where gamble has had more to say than cricketing sense, the role of the top order has been jammed for so long now, that come the crunch moment, they simply failed to deliver.
That is a disappointment in itself. With a line up that would beat any team on paper has come away from the field more measly than some of the minnows of the tournament. Should we then call the success of the smaller teams a success for the tournament or a departure of the two sub continet teams a debacle and disaster for a prestigious events like these.
Do you think India deserves a place in the Super 8's banking on Bangladesh whom they struggled to get past and clearly underestimated their strength?
