It was a historical event in cricket, and it was fortunate for me to be witnessing it from the members stands, right next to the players pavallion.
The atmosphere was intense and tense, the boys sweated out, put in the best effort and finally a well deserved victory came by outplaying australia in all departments of the game.
It was natural for us to turn back to the players dressing rooms and expect a celebration....... and it was there, bundles of joy and champaigne flowing........ The happiness was unevitable.... but then came a surprise...... an enthusiastic fan requested Yuvraj who was in the balcony to request the team to come out and atleast accept the greetings of the waiting fans... and the reply was " Dont tell us what to do, do your own work" and it came from a player whose contribution to this game was no more than sitting and cracking jokes....
I dont know whether the rest of the team knows about it...
The rest of the team was nice and warm, photographs, autographs and words of appreciation flowed... the most generous of the lot being Dhoni, who gifted two young Aussie boys with his batting gloves and his Wicketkeeping Gloves. Irfan came right out of the dressing room and opened a chaimpaigne as requested by fans, Anil, Sehwag, Sachin, RP,Jaffer, Laxman, Ishant, Rahul, Bhajji.... everyone was generous to the fans, and then came another shocker from another slogger...... 'DADA' no autographs, no smiles... a face hanging down as if he has just come back after burrying his happiness, the innocent kids requesting for autographs were not even heard to.... his attitude was not much better than what it was on field, no attempts to be aggresive or agile in field actually extended the victory, else if he had put a full hearted effort to one of the reckless shots from clark that ballooned in the air might have been an easy pic for any international player.
Full marks for the whole team for their graceful display on and off field.... excpet two reckless, high headed and non compassionate individuals... Yuvraj and Saurav _________________ Vir
Are you serious? Were you so busy watching the match that you didn't realize Yuvraj had a terrible series and Ganguly has just been dropped from the ODI team. What did you expect them to do? Dance with you and distribute sweets?
Harbhajan was sitting out and was in mid of a controversy.. but he was the first one to be waving the tricolour and he was not having a good day either...
