Tell me who is better for you.For me
There is no doubt that so far Ganguly is better skipper than what Dravid is when it comes to tactics. Ganguly is/was way ahed of not only Dravid but he is also one off the best in the world and infact the best in the subcontinent. Skippers of present time including Inzi and attapattu fall far behind and look pale infront of ganguly.

But that does not make him the best among all the skippers. Different skippers have different qualities and lead in different way.
Ganguly does it in his own way, Dravid does it by setting examples and by taking up the challenge, inzi does well when it comes to motivating the players and the best of them all is Ponting, he is a allrounder when it comes to leading.

Dravid has just started his stint, he is still in a learning process, i guess with a bit more experince he will get better and better. Dravid is better than dada in some departments. But right i would rate Ganguly above Dravid when it comes to planning and executing tactics.

Dravid is a beter batter as of right now, but if you're asking who's a better captain, definetly Ganguly. Better tactics matter the most, and Ganguly is good at that.

yes i definately second that

if you read through some of my old posts, ganguly has been, and probably will be the best indian captain for a while to come. this is because of the aggressive and innovative techniques he used. his CAPTAINCY was at times simply unparalled by anyone else. however, his personal game was not up to scratch, and it was clear that we can not pick 10 players plus a captain.

i think it is too late for dada to come back into the team as a captain, but maybe as a team player he may. he did not have the best stint in the county game in england. i will always remember him for the innings against sri lanka in the world cup at taunton in england. him and dravid took them apart!!

The reason for my vote is for his rebellious nature when dealing with rival captains, western media.

I liked the way he conducted himself whenever cornered by the western media.

Have you heard of media respecting Patudi, Gavaskar or Azar as much as Ganguly?

Ganguly was really the better of two. He lead the team very well and made many important decisions to get the team home.

I just saw one thing differnt and positive in dravid, that he does not show the tention from his face and Ganguly looked very tense at times. I think that a captain should not show his emotions from his face.

You are right Hassan, Dravid is really cool.
If the captain is tensed, it will show in his decisions which may not be apt in a given situation.

A situation requires your calm action, not a reaction based on conditioned mind.

Yup! Gaguly is indeed better. In fact he is the person who really built up the team to what it is today. If you look back, before Ganguly was placed as a skipper, the team was not good and was lagging far behind and he was the one who rebuilt it and put it to such a beautiful position.

Although while doing this, he affected his personal game and thus was left out.

I too think that ganguly was abtter captain as its very important to have an agressive captain and he was better in tactics and stuff, though i like some positives marks of dravid which make him good and those are that he is very stern and does not reflect anything from his face unlike ganguly whose face was very expressing. Dravid is a far better dependable batsmen and that matters a lot as one looks up at the captain and the team is confident till the batsmen is on the field.
