Cricket in movies

There are now movies made about cricket.

The first one was "Lagaan:once upon a time in India" which is about the English coming and taking over India and charging heavy taxes.The Indians challenge them to a cricket match which if they win,the England would have to leave.Aamir Khan,the main actor,teaches the others how to play.They ultimately.will win of the last ball on which they need five runs to win and a sixer is hit.

The other movie,just recently released is called "Iqbal".It's about a deaf and dumb guy who works really hard enters into the Indian cricket team.Sunil Gavaskar too,plays a rloe in the movie.

Both movies are a good watch.

sounds interesting iqbal

not heard of it - but then again i have no access to trailers at the moment. getting broadband fitted on thurs tho - so i will soon

i have still not got hold of iqbal but i think it's a nice movie but it cannot have any comparison with lagaan.lagaan was a class apart but lagaan andiqual are on different topics, so i think it will be better if we don't compare them

I haven't heard of Iqbal, but I saw Lagaan a few years ago when it was shown on Channel 4. It was a very good, memorable film. Just a shame there doesn't seem to have been a repeat showing.

lagaan was a novel concept playing on the concept of cricket, good music and patriotism. 3 things which are bound to bring in the crowds

well lagaan waz many a times betta than iqbal!
iqbal had 2 b gud coz it has bin directed by nagesh kuknoor not a full fleged director but is pretty famous for his films like hyd blues n so
