Australia take 277-run victory over England 90 minutes into the fifth and final day of the opening Ashes cricket Test at the Gabba. Glenn McGrath caught Steve Harmison at fine leg off Stuart Clark to end England's resistance and give the Australians a morale-boosting 1-0 lead over the holders in the five-Test series.
I think Englans showing good fight at the end.

I can't see any possible way that the Poms can win this game, but they can win back some confidence if KP puts up a big total. I can't see him batting out three sessions, but if he can get a 150+ score it will do wonders for England's confidence.
I think the last two sessions showed that England aren't as bad as the card is making out - it was just a massive difference in mindset at the start of the match. The OZ came out firing on all cylinders with Langer and then Ponting really belting England around the Gabba, then McGrath took sixfer to roll them for 157. The OZ were PUMPED and up for this match, while England looked scared at the start and they never really recovered.
Looking at them batting today, they still did it tough but they looked a half-decent side when they decided to attack the OZ bowlers. You can't play defensively against Warne and McGrath, you have to try and belt them around the place.
England did put up some fight in the second innings. To win against Australia the key is at evey stage of the game the opponent must force the Australian to re-think a strategy. Any team who tried to defend against Australia will not get success because they know how to execute a plan.
