Andrew Hall would not have played this match if A Nel was avaliable! So had Nel played SA would have been bowled out for 160 and could easily have lost the match but as it turned out A Hall helped them to get to 275 and they won by 106 runs. Its Perfect example of blessing in disguise!

Yes men he proved himself that he is best player. He made 52 runs at no. 9 and took some wickets. It's very similar to what happened in the Tests against England in 2003; Kallis got ruled out so Hall was drafted in and played brilliantly throughout the series.

Yes sometime these things change the course of the match. But I read in the media that Smith was unhappy because Nel was not selected. For long it seemed that Smith will not be able to digest this change. But it worked for him!
